There are a lot of machine shops out there – but few like ours. Some shops would give your drawing to a machinist and say "see if you can make a couple of these." At Central Machine, your drawing goes to our process engineering staff to develop a 3-D solid model of the part. From that model, unique process instructions and in-process inspection requirements are generated. At the same time, the CNC programs for actually making the part are created. Of course, this package also includes tooling needs, anticipated run times and any special set-up instructions. Only then is the machine operator actually given the part to make. As the first article is machined, the operator confers with the process engineer to insure that the process sheets are thorough and complete. We welcome changes, because those changes result in improvements. Our rigorous process seeks to raise the probability that everything will come out RIGHT THE FIRST TIME. OUR CUSTOMERS ENVY OUR QUALITY. The Quality Manager at one customer told us "We like working with you – your quality rating is better than our own!" This comment came after their periodic internal review of our quality performance. We want to do your parts right the first time, too – it saves time and money for both of us. And we want you to come back to us with more work! We have a WELL-EARNED REPUTATION FOR PROBLEM SOLVING. When a major defense contractor in Sunnyvale, California had trouble with their manufacturing processes for making ultra-quiet reduction gears for nuclear submarines they asked us to come out there and help figure out what the problem was. That’s right – from Central Machine in South China, Maine all the way to Sunnyvale, California! We went – and we succeeded. Problem solved. |
